On November 1, as part of the official visit of the delegation from the Zurich Transport Company in Vinnytsia, the guests met with the heads of the city council. The results of cooperation and the next second phase of the project on the transfer of 35 tram cars by Switzerland to Vinnytsia were discussed.
The next day, foreign guests visited the tram depot and workshop, where they discussed the technical characteristics of trams, transport infrastructure and more. Later they visited the Situation Center, visited the Vinnytsiakartservis Municipal Enterprise, where they were told about the introduction of a non-cash fare system in the city's public transport.
"We took trams, visited the depot, the impressions are great. It is very nice to see the trams we donated to Vinnytsia," says Luigi Santi, technical engineer of the Zurich Tram Company and consultant company of the Rubi Bahntechnik project from Switzerland. "In Vinnytsiakarservis we were told about the municipal cards of Vinnytsia residents, the fare payment system, which is automated in Vinnytsia and very easy to use."
It will be recalled that according to this year's All-Ukrainian Municipal Survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI) with the assistance of USAID Vinnytsia is a leader among Ukrainian cities in the development of transport infrastructure. 74% of citizens think so.
In December 2020, Switzerland and Vinnytsia signed an agreement to continue the Zurich Trams project, under which the city will receive a batch of 35 Tram-2000 trams. It is expected that the cars will start arriving in 2022. In total, Switzerland can hand over 70 trams of this series to Vinnytsia. The decision to transfer the second batch of Tram-2000 cars will be made after evaluating the effectiveness of the implementation of Part 1 of the new Agreement.
