This Saturday, May 11, Mali Krushlyntsi hosted an event on the eve of World Bee Day. The event was aimed at drawing attention to the role of bees in the ecosystem and maintaining human health. The event was attended by Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov together with his colleagues from Europe - Mayor of Nancy, France, Mathieu Klein and Mayor of Karlsruhe, Germany, Frank Mentrup.

The delegates were shown how an integral part of agriculture, beekeeping, is developing in our community. The European partners visited an apiary that is about 100 years old. It has been run by the local Dudnyk family for generations. In their household, they collect flower, buckwheat, acacia, linden, herbal, and other types of honey.

"There is a synthesis between man and bee here. This location is decorated with traditional Ukrainian household items. An apiary is a powerful place of power. Here you can feel a special energy and unity of a person with nature - a river, a forest, a field. It is with the places that surround us and educate us from birth," said Ms. Yuliia, the beekeeper's granddaughter.

European partners intend to work with us to develop beekeeping, said Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov.

"We understand that Ukraine's further recovery should be in line with the principles of the European Green Deal. That is why we are actively working on this now and would like to introduce new approaches to agriculture and economic development. That is why we showed the Europeans how beekeeping is developing in our community, how we attract investors and interact with business on the example of our industrial parks. We hope that our cooperation with Nancy and Karlsruhe will be fruitful," said Serhii Morhunov.

For a long time, Vinnytsia city authorities have been creating conditions for the productive work of local beekeepers, who contribute to food security and economic strengthening. The city mayor's advisor on agro-industrial development, Oleksandr Zakorchennyi, noted that more than 60 people are currently working in the beekeeping industry in Vinnytsia community.

"To support the industry, the community has a program for the development of the agricultural sector and food security of Vinnytsia City Territorial Community for 2023-2025, which provides for subsidies for bee colonies. Last year, 40 beekeepers benefited from financial support on a non-refundable basis," added Oleksandr Zakorchennyi.
