Riders for Peace 2024: Vinnytsia's Partner City Münster Hosts an Event to Show Solidarity and Friendship
27 May 2024, 14:25
Recently, in Vinnytsia's partner city of Münster, Germany, students from eight schools rode bicycles decorated with European flags, balloons, and peace symbols to the city hall. The event, which took place as part of the Europe Day celebrations, was intended to demonstrate the importance of solidarity and friendship in the modern world.
In bicycle baskets, the participants carried handmade greeting cards with wishes of peace for all sister cities of Münster. Each card was in German and the language of the country it was addressed to.
Some of the postcards were read out in the Peace Hall, where the students were greeted by the Deputy Mayor of Münster, Angela Stähler. In her speech, she urged the students, who will be participating in the elections for the first time, to use their right to vote to strengthen democracy in Europe.
For reference:
"Riders for Peace 2024 is a campaign organized at the initiative of the European Schools of Münster. It is an important sign of cooperation, solidarity, and friendship, especially in these turbulent times. At the same time, this project serves as a reminder of the upcoming European Parliament elections.
The Riders for Peace, which can be seen on the postcard, is a symbol of the Peace of Westphalia, which was signed in 1648, which also put an end to the Thirty Years' War.
