Serhii Morhunov: "Granting Ukraine the Status of a Candidate for EU Membership Opens Up Serious Opportunities, Including for Victory"

Today, at the beginning of the session of Vinnytsia City Council, Mayor Serhii Morhunov congratulated everyone on the historic decision - Ukraine has officially received the status of a candidate country for EU membership.

"We have been going to this stage for a long time. In fact, since 2013, when the then authorities barbarically dispersed Euromaidan - our children, students. Subsequently, the military aggression of the rascists in Ukraine began. At that time, we really did not understand how much they wanted to destroy our nation, our country. Now we know this well. However, thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the efforts of the President, the Cabinet of Ministers, regional and local authorities and the entire Ukrainian people, we have been fighting hard for freedom and our European path for 120 days now,” said Serhii Morhunov.

The Mayor noted that granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership opens up quite serious opportunities: "Including - to accelerate our victory together with European and world partners, who in no way want to accept the rascist ideology of totalitarianism for the whole free and democratic world."

Serhii Morhunov is convinced that a dynamic recovery and reconstruction of the economy and cities affected by armed aggression is ahead.

"After the victory, Ukraine will have to work quite intensively and seriously to transform the country into a legal, democratic and free state. As it was after the accession of Eastern European countries to the European Union. We can compare what such countries as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Poland were and have become after joining the European Union," the Mayor noted. "Given the extent to which our Ukrainian people can unite for a common goal, I hope that we will soon live fully in a united European home."
