The Vinnytsia City Emergency Hospital has been reinforced with high-tech equipment, including an anesthesia station and a transport ventilator. "At the end of 2021, we completed the construction of a new building of the Vinnytsia City Clinical Emergency Hospital. This building, in particular, houses the operating room and intensive care units. The work was completed just in time for the full-scale invasion, as the hospital is currently taking on a fairly heavy load of patients. Our international partners also support the hospital. Last week in Vinnytsia we hosted a delegation from the twin cities of Nancy (France) and Karlsruhe (Germany). At our request, Karlsruhe prepared the appropriate equipment for the emergency hospital. It is important that the funds for these devices were raised by the residents of Karlsruhe. It is very valuable that our foreign partners understand the problems in Ukraine related to the war and the need for high-quality equipment to treat patients. The equipment we received is one of the best in terms of functionality and quality. We are grateful to the community of the sister city of Karlsruhe and Mayor Frank Mentrup for taking care of our problems and continuing to cooperate with the hospital and our city. This is a good example of horizontal relations between the communities of Karlsruhe and Vinnytsia," said Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov.

The doctors emphasize the importance of the new equipment for the facility. The anesthesia station provides high-quality patient anesthesia with precise dosage of anesthetic drugs and monitors vital parameters during complex operations. In addition, it constantly monitors the main vital signs of a person during surgery, namely ECG, spirogram (lung function), pulse, blood pressure, temperature, blood gases.

"Such an anesthesia station is a very smart piece of equipment and at the same time quite simple and intuitive to use. It is similar in operation to the previous models we use in the hospital," said Yurii Sursaiev, head of the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit No. 1 of the Emergency Hospital.

The second device Vinnytsia received from Karlsruhe is a transport ventilator. It provides adequate breathing for patients with vital functions during transportation or evacuation.

"This is the only such device in the hospital. It works both with external sources of oxygen and electricity and autonomously. It can run on its own energy resources for up to 7 hours. It has replaceable batteries that are easy to recharge. If necessary, it can be attached to special structures in transport, so it can be used in ambulances," said Yurii Sursaiev about the transport ventilator.

Oleksandr Shysh, director of the relevant department of the city council, spoke about cooperation with Karlsruhe in the healthcare sector.

"In 2023, during the visit of a delegation from Karlsruhe to Vinnytsia, the German side found out what equipment is most needed for our institution. Vinnytsia doctors noted that the issue of a transport lung ventilator and a multifunctional anesthesia station was urgent. Some time passed, and we received a message from the German side that the required amount of money had been raised. After specifying the specifications, we received modern equipment from the city where the company's equipment is manufactured. It is very necessary for the hospital's work, and after being put into operation, it is already in use. The equipment is also high-tech. The portable lung ventilator and anesthesia station are among the latest models of the new generation," said Oleksandr Shysh, Director of the Healthcare Department.
