Serhii Morhunov: Vinnytsia Signed a Partnership Agreement with the German City of Münster
10 March 2023, 14:21
Separately, a joint declaration was signed by the cities of Münster and Lublin. Thus, we now have a trilateral partnership.
"The representatives of Lublin also confirmed the common desire to work further in an expanded trilateral format. This Polish city, with which we have good relations, is also a twin city of Münster. And it was through Poland that part of the aid from Münster came to us. It includes generators, mobile kitchens, utensils and food," said Serhii Morhunov.
According to Deputy Mayor Halyna Yakubovych, Münster has expressed its readiness to continue providing humanitarian aid to Vinnytsia and transport it to Lublin. Lublin has agreed to facilitate the transport of humanitarian goods to Vinnytsia by covering fuel costs.
"Our German partner city has already handed over humanitarian aid to Vinnytsia worth about EUR 105 thousand. This includes 24 pallets with 5 different types of stew, four modular kitchens, kitchen equipment, crockery, and 5 generators. We are grateful to both the German and Polish people for supporting Ukraine in such a difficult time," added Halyna Yakubovych.
The partnership agreement was signed in the historic Peace Hall. It was here that the Peace of Westphalia was signed, ending the Thirty Years' War in Europe.
However, the three communities of Ukraine, Germany, and Poland do not plan to limit their cooperation to humanitarian aid.
"We aim to exchange municipal practices. Innovations in energy, educational and medical technologies are desirable vectors of work. Our German colleagues also talk about the experience of crisis management, which is important for them, because they see how resilient Vinnytsia and all Ukrainian communities are in dealing with challenges," said Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov.
He thanked the residents of friendly cities for their solidarity with Ukraine and care for Vinnytsia residents, as well as his fellow mayors Marcus Lewe and Krzysztof Żuk for their unwavering support for Ukraine and such timely assistance to Vinnytsia.
