On May 19, a delegation from Karlsruhe, headed by Frank Mentrup, came to Vinnytsia on a working visit. After the extraordinary session of Vinnytsia City Council, where the counter-ceremony of signing the Twinning Agreement took place, flowers were laid at the place of memory and victory - at the memorial to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and Heroes of the ATO/JFO and the monument to Kobzar - on Taras Shevchenko Square in the city center. The leadership of Vinnytsia and Karlsruhe honored the memory of the military who died in the fight against russian aggression.
The delegation also visited the site of the tragedy on Peremohy Square, which occurred as a result of a terrorist missile attack on July 14, 2022. The leaders of both cities honored the memory of the victims with flowers and prayers.
Immediately afterward, a visit to Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University took place, where Karlsruhe representatives met with teachers and students of the university.
The delegation also visited Khimik Park, which is currently undergoing reconstruction. This is one of the facilities where the plans are to develop not only the green framework of the city, but also convenient infrastructure for citizens of all ages and preferences. The park's modernization includes the creation of high-quality recreational areas, modern playgrounds and sports grounds, etc. The German government organization GIZ is also involved in this project as part of the Integrated Urban Development in Ukraine project.
