NEFCO and the Eastern European Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) have signed a capital grant agreement aimed at implementing energy efficiency measures in Vinnytsia. The agreement was signed on April 15 at NEFCO's headquarters in Helsinki.

Under the agreement, three million euros of grant funding is provided for the further modernization of the district heating system in Vinnytsia. This will benefit 16,000 residents and approximately the same number of people who visit public institutions daily within the project area.

"The E5P donors are fully confident that NEFCO will quickly implement these projects for the benefit of Ukrainians suffering from the war," commented Kateryna Stasiuk, Lead Fund Manager of the Eastern European Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P).

This is the second project to modernize Vinnytsia's district heating system, funded by NEFCO with the participation of E5P and Sweden.

"2024 marks the tenth anniversary of our cooperation with NEFCO, which began with the district heating modernization project. The signing of this agreement marks the beginning of the second phase of modernization of Vinnytsia's heating system. We are grateful to NEFCO and E5P for their trust in us and support for the reconstruction of our infrastructure. This confirms that Ukraine is a part of Europe and Vinnytsia is a European city," said Deputy Mayor of Vinnytsia Serhii Matusiak.

According to the agreement, Vinnytsia is to receive grant assistance in the form of energy-efficient equipment that will help reconstruct the heat supply system in one of the city's neighborhoods.

Vinnytsia already has a similar experience of cooperation with NEFCO. The first project was part of the DemoUkrainaDH program, which aimed to demonstrate the benefits of state-of-the-art district heating technologies and system solutions. Then, in 2014, the DemoUkraineDH (NEFCO) program reconstructed the heat supply system in the Kyivska - O. Vyshni neighborhood. In particular, the central heating station was reconstructed and nine individual heating stations were installed.

The Eastern European Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) is a multilateral donor fund and international financial institution (IFI) established at the initiative of Sweden during its presidency of the European Union in 2009. To date, E5P has supported 27 investment projects across Ukraine with a total investment of over €1 billion.

NEFCO is an international financial institution founded in 1999. It finances the expansion of Nordic green solutions to global markets. In Ukraine, since 2010, more than 300 projects have been implemented in more than 100 municipalities.
