Vinnytsia City Council places special emphasis on supporting children of Ukraine's defenders. Taking care of their welfare remains one of the key areas of the municipality’s work. Recently, 22 young Vinnytsia residents went on holiday to Užava, a town near the partner city of Ventspils in Latvia. These are children of combatants, fallen or missing defenders.
The trip was organised as part of Latvia's support for Ukraine with the participation of various Latvian NGOs. It includes cultural exchange, psychological assistance and recreation, which are important for restoring the emotional state of young Ukrainians.
According to the Department of Education of the City Council, the programme includes a variety of cultural and educational activities that will help children learn more about Latvia and find new friends.
“It is our duty to provide comprehensive support to children affected by the war. Holidays abroad not only provide an opportunity to unwind and recover, but also contribute to their development and integration. We are grateful to our international partners for their ongoing help and support. Such initiatives help children feel cared for and give them the opportunity to regain emotional balance and build new life plans,” summed up Oksana Yatsenko, Director of the Department of Education of the City Council.
